The Airport Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne sits on top of the Plateau of Parme between the municipalities of Anglet and Biarritz. Once upon surrounded by agricultural land it is today increasingly enclosed by the urban development of the agglomeration of Anglet, Biarritz and Bayonne. This heterogeneous urban fabric made of residential areas, economic zones and transportation infrastructure coexists with forests and agriculture land of high ecological value. In a context of scarcity of available land, the proximity the airport and the city create high pressure and concurrence of interest on the few available sites. In this context the Agglomerations commissioned the team of Güller Güller for a Strategic Development Plan of the entire Airport Area (620 ha). This document sets conditions and orientations to drive urban development at the interfaces between city and airport, guaranteeing the maneuverability of the airport, while preserving its exceptional (urban and natural) conditions. The entire range of actions proposed in the document aim at allowing for the airport to grow, creating opportunities for new economic development and consolidating a new urban centrality.
